Using What I Have: Quick Word Art Project

I know, I know, can you believe it?! Finally a craft project post! I really can't remember the last one I did...and to tell you the truth, I've been seriously lacking motivation. Between some health stuff, the post-holiday blahs...I just wanted to get inspired and couldn't seem to do it. So I went downstairs to my stash today. I took a look around and gave myself a challenge: What can I make today - right now - using just the stuff I have - nothing else? Hmmm....

I picked up an old white frame, some scrapbook paper, some burlap, some stamps and an ink pad and made a little framed word art for my bookcases (which needed some sprucing since taking the Christmas decor down today anyway!)...

First I thought I'd just stamp the words onto scrapbook paper and call it a day. But then I wanted to incorporate my burlap somehow. I tried stamping directly onto the burlap and that did NOT work.

I thought about using the burlap to wrap around the mat. Then had the idea to glue the saying onto the burlap. Then I decided to cut out all the words and glue them all over the burlap.

SO EASY. Here's a tip: use a Q-tip to dab the ink onto the letter part of the stamp, so the surrounding part of the rubber stamp doesn't get inked. This will ensure that ONLY the letter shows up, not the whole block.

Once the words were done, I cut out a little piece of burlap and taped it to the back of the mat.

Then I used some craft glue to secure the cut out words onto the burlap. Done!

I placed it in the bookcase, because I had a Christmas sign in this spot, and before that, my pumpkin button art...so it was the perfect sized art to swap in there!

You can see the Christmas tree lights in the glass reflection...we just took it down and it is a sad sight:(

Best part is, didn't cost me a cent, AND I found my motivation. I love a challenge!
