I love puttering around my stash of old frames and things, and realizing I have just the think to make something, without spending a dime! That's what I did today when the kiddos were in school. (Hmm...do I need to change my name to the School Time Decorator now?!). I've been wanting to put something above my DIY Coat/Bookbag/Catchall Rack for a while, and it dawned on me that some pictures of the kids would be cute. So I found these picture frames that were once in my bedroom (before the makeover)...
here). But when I did the master bedroom, I decided not to use them.
Then I found some fabric that used to be a runner in my dining room. Hmm...the wheels were spinning. The colors were just right, and the blue would pick up the blue door I recently painted...this would be perfect! I also had the clothespins left over, and some washi tape...within no time, I turned those white frames into this:
I think it's a nice addition to the wall, especially since I didn't have to spend any money! And any time I want to replace the pictures, all I have to do is swap them out of the clothespins, which is convenient.
So in addition to the rack, this hallway has quite a few posts, all seen in this picture above:
-the Dollar Tree Mirror
-the painted blue door
-the easy-peasy lamp shade light fixture
-the Rendi tag
All I need is the perfect runner and this hallway will be complete! And of course, I'll post about it when the time comes:)
I know I sound like a broken record, but next time you want to dive into a project, check your stash, you might have the perfect thing right in front of you!
